The Five Finalists for the Fifth MIPLab Competition Are…

/ Mar 16, 2015

Reed Midem announced the finalists of the fifth annual MIPLab video startup competition, which is meant to empower startups “working on products to enable the traditional TV and online video industries to better exploit opportunities offered by online and cloud-based platforms.”

The five finalists include UK-based Relevancy Data and Wildseed Studios, Sweden-based Dramatify, France-based Wildmoka, and US-based Rights Trade.

Relevancy Data focuses on, you guessed it, metadata, using technology to scan multiple digital videos to determine their content. Dramatify offers mobile and social production management solutions for video creators. While Wildseed Studios aims to help emerging video creators get off the ground, Wildmoka is building a cloud that offers new distribution and consumption methods for video content. Lastly, US company Rights Trade seeks to cut through copyright red tape and help distributors more easily acquire content.

These finalists will have the shot to deliver their final pitches to a panel of judges at the end of MIPTV, on Monday, April 16. The panel will include Caroline Casey, the director of product and audience at Yahoo7; Oscar Hoglund, CEO of Epidemic Sound; Muirne Mokart, the managing director of RTE Digital; Farid Mokart, the founder, CEO, and chief creative officer of Fred & Farid Group; and Jacques-Edouward Sabatier, the director of new content at Canal Plus.

Raphaëlle Toledano, senior project analyst at Fabernovel France, will present the final tier of the 2015 MIPLab competition. It is sponsored by CanalStart and Canal Plus. CanalStart, in partnership with Fabernovel, selected the panel of judges.
