Flipps Adds Slew of Kids Programming in Time for Summer

/ Jun 24, 2014

Flipps, the app that projects video from users’ phones to their TV sets, just added a library of children’s programming to their on-demand selection. Strategically planned for summer trips in which restless kids seek constant entertainment away from their home televisions, the company will make it possible to screen shows like “Angry Birds” in any TV-equipped hotel.

The added kids’ programming will span seven channels, including movies, old and new series, and educational content. Flipps’ addition also reflects children’s tendencies to spend significant time in front of the TV on a daily basis, in spite of increased usage of smaller viewing devices, like smartphones and tablets.

A slew of recent partnerships made the kid-targeted programming possible. A deal with Happy brought Flipps “Angry Birds” and “Shrek,” while a pact with Viewster made classics like “Daffy Duck,” “Woody the Woodpecker,” and “Betty Boop” available to those watching video through Flipps this summer. The company also inked a deal to show video from Hooplakidz, the major YouTube channel for kid-focused content.

The Flipps app lets users choose any of these shows to stream on a connected TV. As Flipps CEO, Kosta Jordanov, explained, “Kids crave on-demand programming, but often consume it on mobile devices. We made it extremely easy for kids and parents to ‘flip’ a wide range of entertainment and educational programming to the big-screen TV and control it all from the phone.”

Flipps offices are located in San Francisco, New York, and Sofia, Bulgaria. Their app is available on the App Store and on Google Play.
