Former ‘Doctor Who’ Star David Tennant Joins Netflix’s ‘Jessica Jones’
He joins a cast that includes Krysten Ritter (“Breaking Bad”) as the titular Jones, as well as Mike Colter as fellow Marvel hero Luke Cage. Tennant’s character is described as an enigmatic figure from Jones’s past whose reappearance will “send shockwaves” through her world.
In the Marvel universe, Jessica Jones is a former superhero whose career gets tragically cut short. As a result, she decides to rebuild her personal life and career by starting a detective agency, often assisting other superheroes and people with extraordinary abilities along the way.
The 13-episode series, which joins other Marvel-produced shows including “Daredevil,” “Luke Cage,” and “Iron Fist” at Netflix, will premiere on the streaming service later this year, after “Daredevil.”
“Jessica Jones” was developed by executive producer and showrunner Melissa Rosenberg for Marvel and Netflix. Other executive producers on the series include Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s head of television. The series is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix.
Tennant is best known as the 10th doctor in the hit BBC series “Doctor Who.” He also recently starred in “Broadcurch” and its American adaptation “Gracepoint.”Tags: Casting, David Tennant, Doctor Who, Jessica Jones, Marvel, Marvel Television, Netflix, netflix originals
