Former NBCU and CNN Execs Explore New Online Video Venture
Former top executives at NBCUniversal Entertainment and CNN are exploring a new online video subscription venture, which would offer individual channels based on notable personalities.
According to the New York Post, the duo, Jeff Gaspin (former chairman of NBCUniversal Entertainment) and Jon Klein (former president of CNN) have even approached controversial politician Sarah Palin to host one of those channels.
If this unnamed venture reminds you of The Blaze, an online video subscription service and (later) TV channel started by former Fox News host Glenn Beck, then you aren’t wrong. Last-reported numbers pegged The Blaze at having 300,000 subscribers, each of whom pay $10 per month for the streaming service.
Gaspin and Klein haven’t been active in the media business for a few years — Gaspin and Klein departed NBCU and CNN in 2010.Tags: CNN, Glenn Beck, Jeff Gaspin, Jon Klein, NBCUniversal, Sarah Palin, The Blaze
