‘Frankenstein MD’ Series Reveals Cast Lineup + First Behind the Scenes Photos
Pemberley Digital and PBS Digital Studios have revealed the cast lineup for their upcoming adaptation “Frankenstein, M.D.”, set to air in mid-August via PBS Digital. Headlining the series as main character Victoria Frankenstein, is Anna Lore, who’s specialty is comedy and improv. Victoria Frankenstein is a reimagined female version of the original Frankenstein character who is “an obsessive, eccentric prodigy determined to prove herself in the male-dominated fields of science and medicine. Her medical experiments are revisited in a modern university setting.”
“When I met Anna I saw someone who carried herself with a presence and fearlessness that’s beyond her years. You can tell she’s got a little mad scientist in her. I think of it like, imagine her in an extremely scary situation and if you asked her “aren’t you scared?” she’d either be really excited or respond with a straight faced “why?”,” said Bernie Su via email adding, “She’s what you envision a young Victoria Frankenstein would look like.”
One thing’s for sure, leading ladies on Pemberley Digital shows certainly have a “look” —
YouTube comedian Steven Zaragoza (“1000 Ways to Die”) is set to play Iggy DeLacey, a modern take on the iconic character, Igor.
“Steve completely blew us away. His read actually gave us a better vision of who Iggy is in our version of the story. And, since then, he’s really made the character his own creating a perfect balance to our Victoria. Also, I love him … we touch beards (not in a weird way),” noted Director, Brett Register.
Brendan Bradley (“Squatters”) and Sara Fletcher (“Grimm”, “MyMusic”) have been cast as Victoria’s childhood friends Eli and Rory, and Kevin Rock as Dr. Waldman who, in the series, creates his own self-titled YouTube science show that breaks down “complex biological and medical concepts to a general audience.”
The creatives behind the show include Bernie Su, famed for his uncanny ability to build deep story worlds that unfold across multiple platforms, including web, social media, live events and novels, amongst others. “What’s Trending” alumni Brett Register (Director) and Lon Harris (Head Writer) and “Wing Girls” YouTube creator Tracy Bitterolf (Producer) are among the online video vets working on Frankenstein MD.
