The Wall Street Journal scoopsthat the company is finally adapting to the times by rolling out the ratings metric long desired by media companies, who rely on the service to measure ad rates

A new study from Nielsen found users of online video services Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime Instant Video love to binge on TV shows. Netflix subscribers say they also are attracted to original content, such as the acclaimed new prison comedy “Orange is the New Black,” starring Taylor Schilling, and Vicky Jeudy.

Social video ad solutions company Unruly Media has hired Richard Kosinski as its new US president. He will be responsible for shepherding the company to its “next phase of growth in the Americas.” Unruly says Kosinksi has been hired to tap into the growing market for social video advertising, as evidenced by the surge in popularity of Vine, Instagram Video, and the (inevitable) launch of Facebook’s video ad product. He will advise on business strategy and new product development. In the US, Unruly has offices in NY, Chicago, Detroit, SF, and LA.

One of the most common criticisms of online video, at least from the advertising community (and those who cover it), is that online content simply does not have the same level of quality as television, which makes it difficult for advertisers to spend real money on digital. Amazon Casts More TV Stars For ‘Alpha House’
Amazon Studios is rounding out the cast for “Alpha House,” a comedy series about four Republican senators living in a house together. The original production unit has cast Cynthia Nixon (“Sex and the City”), Amy Sedaris (“Strangers with Candy”), Wanda Sykes (“Curb Your Enthusiasm”), and Julie White (“Go On”) to appear during the first season, which will debut on Amazon Instant Video sometime this fall.
