Grace Helbig Rejoins Millionaires Club on YouTube

/ Jan 22, 2014

Don’t look now, but Grace Helbig just surpassed 1 million subscribers on YouTube — for the second time in her life.

It’s an important milestone for anyone creating content on YouTube (it’s also one that we don’t normally cover, except that with Helbig, we’re talking about a unique situation). As we’ve reported before, here is one of the most prominent stars on YouTube attempting to rebuild her audience on the world’s biggest video platform, from the ground up.

Yes, she has a large social following who she can market the new channel to. And yes, she has a lot of influential friends, who have already rallied behind her to raise awareness for her new independently-owned channel.

But in an industry that’s constantly worrying about how successful YouTubers can be at driving audiences from their channels to other platforms, Helbig, who left the My Damn Channel-owned DailyGrace channel on December 31, 2013, makes for a great case study on how good top YouTubers are at driving audiences anywhere. Without the support of her biggest marketing vehicle, the DailyGrace channel (which still features more than 2.2 million subscribers), Helbig has managed to top 1 million subscribers in a little over two weeks*. The comedienne launched her new daily web series, “It’s Grace,” on the new channel on January 6.

A safe bet would be that Helbig will eventually reach and surpass the subscriber numbers she climbed to in her DailyGrace days. And this time, she will be able to earn all of the rewards that come from that.

* It’s important to note that Helbig’s current channel had over 97,000 subscribers on December 31, a week before she started publishing daily content on it.
