Gwyneth Paltrow’s AOL Series ‘The Restart Project’ Gets a Release Date
Upcoming AOL On Original “The Restart Project,” which was announced earlier this year at the company’s Newfront, just landed a new trailer. The series, helmed by actress Gwyneth Paltrow and celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson, will premiere on AOL On Monday, December 16.
“The Restart Project” focuses on women who have faced some type of adversity and triumphed over it. Paltrow and Anderson will help the women restart their lives with diet and fitness training.
While Anderson and Paltrow’s intentions may seem completely selfless, many in the media are not so pleased with the concept of “The Restart Project.” Salon’s Daniel D’Addario writes about the series, calling it “tone-deaf” and a series to eagerly await, “primarily for the spectacle of Paltrow attempting empathy with middle-class women.”
Both Paltrow and her celebrity trainer have been heavily criticized for their unapologetically posh lifestyles. Anderson, who also trains Madonna, was recently lambasted for her controversial 800 calorie-a-day diet plan, which is roughly about half of the caloric intake recommended for women.
Regardless of the moral ambiguity the duo seem to subscribe to, AOL On is all set to unleash “The Restart Project” on the world. Although the series may be launching to some criticism, it will be interesting to see if Anderson and Paltrow will be able to appear as everyday women and repair their rocky public personas, which is surely what they are hoping to do.
The series, which was initially unveiled sporting the moniker “Second Chances,” is produced by Ryan Seacrest Productions. The new trailer can be seen here.Tags: AOL On, AOL Originals, Gwyneth Paltrow, The Restart Project, Tracy Anderson
