HollyShorts Announces 2014 Short-Film Winners, Fêtes Felicia Day

Francois Jaros took home the Best Short Film Award for “Toutes Des Connes (Life’s a Bitch”), while Una Gunjak was awarded Best Director for “The Chicken.” As part of their wins, the filmmakers took home a production prize from event sponsor Company 3, which awarded Jaros with $15,000 and Gunjak with $10,000.
Other notable winners included Brett Sorrem for “#Twitter Kills” (Best Comedy), Kheireddine El-Helou for “Drudge” (Best Horror), Lindsey Blatt for “Herd in Iceland” (Best Documentary), Mikkel Okholm for “Interview” (Best Animation), Jacob Lundgaard for “As Long As You Watch My Heart” (Best Music Video), and Josh Tanner for “The Landing” (Best Cinematography).
HollyShorts also presented the winner of its first screenplay competition, which went to Mimi Jeffries for her short script “Open Roads.” With the win, Jeffries’ script will be produced by Seattle-based Evil Slave, and will screen for the first time at next year’s HollyShorts Film Festival, which is scheduled to run from August 13 to 22.
As part of the event, HollyShorts also fêted Felicia Day, actress, filmmaker, and founder of Geek & Sundry, with its inaugural HollyShorts Digital Icon Award.
