Interlude’s Interactive Video Tool Treehouse Opens Its Doors to Everyone

Interlude’s video-creation tool Treehouse, which allows users of all sizes to create interactive, “choose your own adventure”-style videos, is now open to everyone. The company is offering free, unlimited access to the tool, for both commercial and personal use.

This free version of Treehouse is called Core, which allows users to make an unlimited number of videos that are then distributed to users on an ad-supported basis.

For creators seeking an ad-free experience for their content, Treehouse offers multiple paid options. The Plus plan blocks third-party ads and costs either $149/month or $99/month (if you commit to at least one year of use). Premium gives users the ability to custom brand their video player’s loading screen, among other features, for $499/month or $349/month with a year’s commitment. Lastly, Enterprise marks a totally custom option, granting access to multiple users and an account management team.

“Our goal at Interlude is to help as many people as possible create amazing interactive experiences, whether that be for a school project or a professional production,” said Yoni Bloch, co-founder and CEO of Interlude, in a statement.

On the professional side, Interlude has already been used by a variety of brands and filmmakers, including Lincoln Motors, musician Aloe Blacc, and the filmmaking duo Daniels.

But now Interlude wants to be more accessible to independent creators.

“We started this company because we were looking to tell new types of stories, and there wasn’t an interactive video solution that met our vision. By making interactive video available to all users free of cost, this new offering sets the stage for interactive video to explode, following the pattern we’ve seen in blogging and social media,” Bloch elaborated.

Bloch, an Israeli musician, founded Interlude with his band. The startup’s backers include Sequoia Capital, Intel Capital, Marker, NEA, and Innovation Endeavors.
