James Franco’s ‘Making a Scene’ Makes AOL Debut on Sept. 17

AOL has set the premiere date for “Making a Scene with James Franco,” a new comedy series from the actor that recreates iconic moments from the world of film.

Launching September 17, the AOL original will feature Franco collaborating with his creative team and fellow actors, including Scott Haze (“Child of God”) and Ahna O’Reilly (“The Help”), to remagine classic big screen moments. Iconic films slated to be skewered (or paid homage to) by the crew include “The Godfather,” “Batman,” “Beetlejuice,” “Titanic,” and “Grease.”

While some scenes will be reimagined, the series will also look to create unique mash-ups of classic films and genres, from a merger of “Dirty Dancing” and “Reservoir Dogs,” to an exploration of what the horror classic “The Shining” would be like if it was a feel-good rom-com.

“Making the Scene” will be available across all AOL On platforms, including the AOL Originals homepage. The first three episodes are scheduled to go live on September 17. The remaining seven episodes will debut in two separate batches. Premiere dates for each will be announced at a later time, AOL said.

Showcased by AOL during its 2014 DCNF, “Making a Scene” is executive produced by Vince Jolivette and Jay Davis for Rabbit Bandini Productions, and Eric Day, Mark Koops, and Michael Mihovilovich for Trium Entertainment.
