The Janoskians Are Going to the Big Screen
The Janoskians, a YouTube comedy/prank collective out of Australia, have inked a deal with Lionsgate to star in a feature film produced by the studio.
According to Deadline, Lionsgate is developing a comedy project that’s partially scripted, and will feature the types of pranks and stunts that the quintet is known for. These shenanigans will be wrapped around a story about the group’s adjustment to life in Los Angeles as they try to throw “the most epic party ever.”
Comedian Dahn Ahdoot is set to script, with Danny Lee (“Road to Brooklyn”) on board to direct. Producers include the group’s manager Jeremy Skaller and Brian Robbins, founder and CEO of teen-focused YouTube network AwesomenessTV, which represents the pranksters on the world’s biggest video site.
The group, comprised of Beau Brooks, Jai Brooks, Luke Brooks, Daniel Sahyounie, and James Yammouni, have more than 1.5 million subscribers on YouTube — a rabid following that’s helped them sell-out tours and shopping malls worldwide.
They are repped by CAA, SEG/Kamouflage, and Management 360.
This is the second feature film project centering on YouTube pranksters to be announced in the past couple of months. In April, Collective Digital Studio revealed plans to produce “Natural Born Pranksters,” a feature film in the vein of “Jackass,” starring the prank trio of Roman Atwood, VitalyzdTV, and Dennis Roady.Tags: AwesomenessTV, Brian Robbins, CDS, Collective Digital Studio, dennis roady, lionsgate, Prank Film, pranks, Roman Atwood, The Janoskians, VitalyzdTV, web to film, YouTube Creators
