EXCLUSIVE: Jay Mohr and Believe Entertainment’s Game Show Returns to Hulu
Originally launched last December, the series pits three best friends against each other in a battle to determine which guy has the highest knowledge of the trivial — but important! — things that only guys care about. Lifelong friends compete across three rounds of mental and physical challenges for the chance to take one of their buddies’ most prized possessions.
Hosted by Mohr, the first season of “Money Where Your Mouth Is” had a successful run on Hulu and Hulu Plus. According to Believe Entertainment, the series was among the top game shows on Hulu last winter; it also ranked among the top 40 shows for males 25-44 for eight straight weeks on the streaming service.
Building off of that success, season two will bring a few new elements to the show, including an enhanced set and longer episodes overall. Updates to the show’s format include an extended “man knowledge” trivia round as well as a new “girl knowledge” segment, which tests contestants on questions that no “real man” should know (if they do, their score reverts to zero).
“It’s just fun,” says Believe Entertainment Group co-founder William H. Masterson III, about the show. “We’ve turned what guys do into a competition with stakes and a game format. This show strikes a chord with men of all walks of life by tapping into a universal guy theme: best friends one-upping their buddies and competing over guy knowledge.”
“Money Where Your Mouth Is” is entirely financed, produced, and distributed by Believe Entertainment, which is behind other multi-season star-centric digital series like LeBron James’ “The LeBrons” and DJ Tiesto’s “In the Booth.”
“We are creating franchises,” says Dan Goodman, the studio’s other co-founder. “With ‘Money’ and our other shows, we’ve turned a corner from one-off projects to developing long-term content platforms and building something that will endure.”
As with the first season, soup giant Campbell’s will be the “anchor sponsor” for season two. The brand deal includes custom integrations like branded scoreboards, lower-third graphics, and pre-rolls to promote new Campbell’s flavors. Various companion content and behind-the-scenes clips will also be available via the show’s hub on Hulu.
“Money Where Your Mouth Is” is executive produced by Believe Entertainment partners Goodman, Masterson III, and Danny Fishman, along with Lowell Mate, Barry Katz, and Mohr. The series is produced by Andrew Egiziano, and directed by John Crane and Erik Wong.
