John McCarus Named Chief Strategy Officer of Media General
Former DigitasLBi executive John McCarus, who left the agency last month after seven years there, has been named chief strategy officer of Media General.
A new role at the company, which operates or services 71 television stations in 48 markets, McCarus will be responsible for growing Media General’s digital businesses. Last week, the company closed a $1.6 billion merger with Lin Media, which owns digital businesses like Lin Digital, Lin Mobile, and Federated Media Publishing.

At DigitasLBi, McCarus was SVP of social content, working with clients ranging from American Express to Taco Bell. While there, he also helped launch the Digital Content Newfronts, an annual upfront showcase for what’s supposed to be the best in digital video programming.
