June Diane Raphael has joined the cast of “Grace and Frankie,” an upcoming Netflix comedy starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin. The actress, whose on-screen credits include roles in “New Girl” and “Burning Love,” will play the daughter of Fonda’s character, Grace.

Created by “Friends” co-creator Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris, “Grace and Frankie” tells the story of two enemies whose lives are turned upside-down when their husbands announce they love each other and plan to get married. Soon, the ladies become best friends.

The all-star cast for the comedy, which is set to debut in 2015, includes Martin Sheen (“The West Wing”) and Sam Waterston (“The Newsroom”) as the lovebird husbands, in addition to Fonda and Tomlin. Raphael’s role is described as a rebellious one when it comes to her relationship with her mother.

Mirroring her role is one that will be played by actor Baron Vaughn, who has been cast as Frankie’s adopted son. Adopted at a young age from Uganda, Vaughn’s “Bud” identifies more as an American Jew than an African man and often has to play peacemaker for his now-extended family.

“Grace and Frankie” will be written by Kauffman and Morris. Executive producers include Kauffman, Morris, Fonda, Tomlin, Paula Weinstein, and David Ellison of Skydance Productions. Tate Taylor, who is also executive producing, will also direct.
