Latino MCN MiTu Bolsters Revenue Team

/ Jul 1, 2014

Fresh off a new round of funding led by Upfront Ventures, Latino multi-channel network MiTu has made several new hires to bolster its revenue team.

Jeff Mayo has been named SVP of business and revenue operations. He will lead strategy and day-to-day oversight across all areas of business operations. He comes from fellow YouTube MCN Machinima, where he served as the company’s VP of sales and advertising operations. Previously, he served time at LinkedIn, Google, and YouTube.

Daniel Batista comes to MiTu from The Audience, where he was head of strategic planning. With the MCN, Batista, as VP and head of strategic partnerships and business development, will focus on securing strategic relationships with other digital video partners.

And to round it out, Cesar Martinez, most recently the VP of multicultural sales at Live Nation, has been named VP of sales and branded entertainment. He will be responsible for expanding MiTu’s branded entertainment business in the US.

All three men will report directly to Charlie Echeverry, CRO of MiTu Network, supporting the company’s expansion in cross-platform programming and ad sales, all directed toward the Latino millennial audience.

MiTu Network claims to be the the largest Latino-focused multi-channel network, with a reach of nearly 40 million subscribers and more than 360 million monthly views.

The company most recently locked in a $10 million Series B round, led by LA-based venture firm Upfront Ventures (which was an original investor in Maker Studios). When the Series B round was announced, MiTu said it would use the funding in part to bolster its engineering and sales teams.

Other backers in MiTu include The Chernin Group, Advancit Capital, and Allen DeBevoise.*
