Machinima Names Daniel Tibbets Chief Content Officer
Machinima has hired veteran media executive Daniel Tibbets as its first-ever chief content officer.
In the role, Tibbets will be responsible for all of Machinima’s programming efforts, including content strategy and development, program planning and scheduling, production, acquisitions, and business affairs. He will also oversee talent operations, managing the network’s talent development team that focuses on helping creators grow audience and secure content and brand deals.
Machinima’s network currently has more than 24,700 channels, collectively reaching more than 385 million subscribers on YouTube.
“We seek to align our original, talent commissioned, and network programming against our fanboy and gamer focused programming strategy,” said Machinima CEO Chad Gutstein in a statement. “Daniel’s unique combination of experiences will enable him to execute against that goal with excellence.”
Most recently, Tibbets was the SVP of digital media at Bunim/Murray Productions, where he oversaw the creation of new IP, the production of branded content, and creative development/production and sales for various short-form and long-form content initiatives for multiple digital platforms.
Tibbets is the latest in a series of a hires made by Chad Gutstein since he was installed as Machinima’s new chief executive in March. Recent appointments include general counsel Chris Riley and chief people officer Tricia White.
Tibbets, like the others, will report to Gutstein.Tags: Bunim/Murray Productions, Daniel Tibbets, Exec Moves, gaming, Machinima, MCN, Movers, YouTube Creators
