MIPTV to Expand MIP Digital Fronts in 2015
The second annual MIP Digital Fronts, an international showcase for original online video programming, will take place during MIPTV from April 13-15, 2015 in Cannes, France. The announcement was made by Reed Midem, which created and produces the event.
YouTube will return for the 2015 MIP Digital Fronts as the event’s “founding partner.” Per the partnership, the company will once again host a presentation to highlight top creators and programming across its platform.
“The inaugural MIP Digital Fronts in 2014 offered a unique global platform for YouTube creators, traditional TV producers, and film studios to promote their web video talent” said Ben McOwen Wilson, director, YouTube EMEA. “Following the success of this year’s event, YouTube is delighted to be on board once again next year as a founding partner.”
In addition to YouTube, the inaugural MIP Digital Fronts included presentations from the likes of Maker Studios, Dailymotion, Vice Media, and Chipotle, as well as content showcases from studios such as Smokebomb Entertainment, Vuguru, and What’s Trending.
For 2015, with an additional day scheduled, Reed Midem says it expects to double the number of content studios joining the lineup.
The goal of the MIP Digital Fronts is similar to what NATPE is for TV programming in the US, and MIPTV itself is for TV internationally: to present and sell original online content to prospective international buyers. The audience for MIPTV 2015 is expected to exceed 11,000 — though that doesn’t mean all of them will also be attending the Digital Fronts, but you get the picture.Tags: maker studios, MIP Digital Fronts, MIPTV, Smokebomb Entertainment, Vuguru, youtube
