Animation MCN Mondo Media to Make TV Series for Fusion

Maker Studios won’t be the only YouTube multi-channel network with a sketch series on TV. In fact, Maker won’t be the only MCN with a sketch series on Fusion.

Mondo Media, the animation MCN behind popular online shows like “Dick Figures” and “Happy Tree Friends,” has inked a deal with Fusion for a new quarter-hour sketch series called “Like, Share, Die,” which will premiere on the network in December. The series will be a curated mix of topical comedy sketches and Mondo’s original short-form programming, while also sourcing content from Mondo’s network of YouTube animators, the companies said.

With a 20-episode order, “Like, Share, Die” will be produced by Mondo in conjunction with LA-based studio Six Point Harness, which most recently produced animated segments for Fox’s “Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey.” Executive producers include Mondo’s Aaron Simpson and Six Point Harness’ Brendan Burch. Josh Faure-Brac (“SuperNews!”) is on board as head writer and producer.

While premiering on Fusion, the TV series will also be available online at Segments will also be distributed on Fusion and Mondo’s YouTube channels.

“Mondo has a unique sensibility and platform for finding, producing, and building large, loyal digital audiences,” said Wade Beckett, Fusion’s programming chief. “They’ve demonstrated they can adapt their best performing properties into longer forms for television and feature film, so we are excited to bring their unique brand of comedy to Fusion’s audience.”

Mondo recently announced plans to produce three new feature films based on the “Dick Figures,” “Happy Tree Friends,” and “Deep Space 69” properties. “Happy Tree Friends” was previously adapted into a TV series for G4 in the US and MTV overseas.

Earlier this month, Fusion, a joint venture between Disney/ABC Television and Univision, ordered a clips series from Maker Studios that will feature a curated selection of content from the MCN.
