MovieLaLa Gets Funding from Salesforce CEO
Social network and movie marketing platform MovieLaLa has received funding from Marc Benioff. The founder, chairman, and CEO of Salesforce.com helped bring MovieLaLa’s total seed funding and angel investments up to $750,000.
As MovieLaLa hopes to rebuild the traditional movie marketing model through data-driven research, the investment should help the platform successfully move towards this goal. Target audience data collection, MovieLaLa plans to connect the film fans with the coming attractions that will appeal to them most based on their friends and favorite stars (who they will be able to follow on the platform).
Other investors in MovieLaLa include Allen DeBevoise, chairman, co-founder, and CEO of Machinima; Jim Moloshok, former president of digital initiatives for Home Box Office and co-founder/president of Warner Bros. Online; Larry Braitman, founding Flixster investor; Angie Wang, producer; Adam Nash, former executive in residence at Greylock Partners; and Manatt Digital Media Ventures, a legal and business consulting branch for clients in the digital media, advertising, and entertainment industries.Tags: Marc Benioff, movie industry, Movielala, Salesforce.com, social network
