Nerdist Appoints New President and Head of Development
Chris Hardwick’s Nerdist Industries has a new president and head of development.
Adam Rymer joins the company as president, responsible for day-to-day operations, revenue growth, and overseeing all Nerdist efforts and expansions across platforms. He joins Nerdist from Lava Bear Films, where he served as COO and CFO and executive produced the upcoming feature film “The Rover.” Prior to Lava Bear, Rymer was an SVP at Universal Studios Motion Picture Group, leading the studio’s distribution and new business initiatives across new-media platforms.
The other new hire, in the newly created role of head of development, is former Comedy Central and CBS executive Jack Herrguth. He’s tasked with producing and developing content for digital, as well as film and TV. On the traditional media front, this means developing half-hour comedies, hour dramas, and features for Nerdist, according to Herrguth.
During his time at Comedy Central, Herrguth helped develop shows like “Nathan for You” and Nick Swardson’s “Pretend Time.” He also developed for Nerdist founder Chris Hardwick, which was a “precursor” to Hardwick’s current late-night talk show on the network, [email protected]
In addition to Rymer and Herrguth, Nerdist has appointed former Fullscreen executive Chris Michael to the position of director of audience development. Brian Walton has also been promoted to editor-in-chief of Nerdist.com.
