Net2TV’s Portico TV Service Adds CelebTV Channel
Net2TV has struck a deal with CelebTV to stream the entertainment news provider’s content on connected TVs and streaming players.
Net2TV’s Portico TV service repackages short-form web video content into TV-length “programs,” which it then distributes via interest-based or publisher-branded channels. The company has existing deals with the likes of Revision3, Newsy, and CBS Interactive’s CHOW.com. Per the deal, Net2TV’s production team will do the same thing with CelebTV’s pop culture and lifestyle programming.
Portico TV is currently available on Philips Smart TVs and is set to launch on Roku devices this month. Net2TV execs say they want to reach “20 million screens” by the end of 2013.
CelebTV currently reaches 6.8 million unique viewers across a distribution network that includes Blinkx, Hulu, and YouTube. Last October, the network signed a deal with Meredith Corp. to distribute timely original entertainment content to the publisher’s Divine Caroline website.
In 2008, CelebTV won a Webby in the Events & Live Broadcasts for its “Sundance Weekend Wrap.”Tags: CBS Interactive, CelebTV, Connected TVs, Entertainment News, Net2TV, Newsy, Portico TV, revision3
