Netflix Adds to Its Trophy Mantle at the WGA Awards
The 66th annual WGA Awards were held last night via concurrent ceremonies taking place in New York and Los Angeles. As it’s been doing throughout the awards circuit, Netflix’s high-profile original political drama, “House of Cards,” picked up an award, this time the WGA for Best New Series. It bet out fellow Netflix original series “Orange Is the New Black” to take home the prize.
That was the only award for Netflix during the night, as “House of Cards” and “Orange Is the New Black” lost out in other categories they were nominated in, including Best Drama and Best Comedy.
In the Short Form New Media — Original category, the winner was “Sylvia Plath: Girl Detective,” which beat out online programming staples like CW Seed (for “Husbands”) and WIGS (for “Lauren”).Tags: Awards, CW Seed, house of cards, Husbands, Lauren, Netflix, Orange Is the New Black, WGA Awards, Wigs, Writers Guild of America, youtube
