Netflix Announces Newest European Territories
Netflix will be coming to Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, and Luxembourg later this year.
People living in these countries who want to sign up for the streaming service can do so via Netflix.com. The company says users will be notified when the service is available in the coming year. Information on pricing, programming, and supported devices will also be available at a later date.
Netflix first announced its plans to expand within Continental Europe during a quarterly earnings call in January.
The European expansion follows the launch of Netflix in the UK and Ireland, Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden in 2012, and the Netherlands in 2013.
Currently, the service claims more than 48 million members in over 40 countries, altogether consuming more than a billion hours of content per month.Tags: Europe, Expansion, Netflix, SVOD
