Netflix Expands to Netherlands
Netflix continues its global expansion by launching in the Netherlands today. The service will be available for 7.99 euros per month and will offer access to Netflix’s full catalog of film and TV titles, including the service’s original fare. In the announcement, Netflix goes out of its way to talk about the availability of “House of Cards,” “Hemlock Grove,” season four of “Arrested Development,” and “Orange Is the New Black” to all Dutch subscribers. “Derek,” a new comedy from Ricky Gervais that Netflix has exclusive rights to outside of the UK, will be available in the Netherlands on September 12.
Netflix will also offer an array of Dutch titles including “Alles is Liefde” and “De Heineken Ontvoering.”
It’s a full launch for Netflix as the laundry list of devices that support the Netherlands launch include: Macs and PCs; iOS, Android, and Windows Phone devices; Blu-ray players from LG, Panasonic, Samsung, Sony, Toshiba, and Yamaha; the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii and Wii U consoles; connected TVs from LG, Panasonic, Philips, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, and Toshiba; and streaming players from Panasonic and Sony as well as the Apple TV.Tags: apple tv, arrested development, Derek, Global Expansion, Hemlock Grove, house of cards, Netflix, Orange Is the New Black, ricky gervais, samsung
