Netflix Nabs Global Rights to FremantleMedia’s ‘The Returned’
“The Returned” follows the residents of a small mountain town that is turned upside down when several local people, who have long been presumed dead, suddenly reappear. The series is based on the International Emmy-winning French supernatural thriller “Les Revenants,” and is executive produced by Cuse and Tucker.
In the US, “The Returned” will air on A&E. Netflix will exclusively stream the series as a “Netflix Original” across all of its territories outside of the US and Canada, starting March 10. New episodes will arrive on the streaming service within 24 hours of the initial US broadcast. Netflix members in the US and Canada will get access to the entire first season next year.
“The Returned” stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead (“Scott Pilgrim vs. The World”), Jeremy Sisto (“Six Feet Under”), India Ennenga (“Treme”), Sandrine Holt (“House of Cards”), and Agnes Bruckner (“24”).
The series is produced by FremantleMedia North America in association with Haut et Court TV SAS, the producer of the original French series. Executive producers include Cuse for Carlton Cuse Productions, Tucker for Angry Annie Productions, and Thom Beers, Craig Cegielski, and Stefanie Berk for FremantleMedia North America.Tags: a+e, Annie Tucker, Carlton Cuse, fremantlemedia international, FremantleMedia North America, Netflix, Netflix International Originals
