Netflix Signs Deal with French Telecom Group Orange
Netflix continues to get comfortable in one of its new European homes, France. The streaming video giant just made a deal with major French telecom operator, Orange, which will let Netflix stream to TV sets through the operator’s set-top devices beginning this November.
Stephane Richard, Orange’s CEO, confirmed the deal on October 2, making Orange the second telecom operator in France to team up with Netflix. When the streaming video service went live in the country mid-September, it also formed a pact with telco Bouygues.
So far, Netflix has reportedly gained over 100,000 subscribers in France. Outside of France, the streaming service now works in several other European countries, including Belgium, where Netflix inked a deal with Belgian telecom group, Belgacom, which has since rebranded to Proximus.Tags: belgacom, Bouygues Telecom, France, Netflix, Orange, proximus, streaming video, telecom operators
