Netflix Is Testing a ‘Tweet Me a Reminder’ Alert for ‘Marco Polo’
Netflix offers a lot of content, which is great! But it also can be difficult for users to keep track of what’s new on the service, especially as it relates to new shows they’re interested in, or new seasons of shows they already love.
That’s the idea behind a new “Tweet Me a Reminder” alert Netflix is testing out for its upcoming original series “Marco Polo.” First spotted by Rich Greenfield of BTIG Research, the alert button can be seen embedded directly within tweets (online and across Twitter’s iOS and Android apps) about the show. Here’s an example of it online:
According to Netflix, users who click the button will then get a message in the form of a [email protected] message from the @MarcoPoloMP Twitter account. It will be sent to any user who has opted in as soon as the show premieres (December 12), and will include a custom video message from the cast.
It appears “Marco Polo” is the only show that Netflix is testing this feature with. That said, it won’t be surprising if the company expands that to other original series in its lineup, as well as high-profile TV shows it has licensed from studios and networks.
From The Weinstein Company and Electus, “Marco Polo” follows the adventures of the famous explorer in Kublai Khan’s court in 13th century China. It will star Italian newcomer Lorenzo Richelmy and Zhu Zhu.Tags: electus, Marco Polo, Netflix, netflix originals, Social Marketing, The Weinstein Company, twitter
