Netflix’s ‘Virunga’: Inside the Fight to Save Africa’s Oldest National Park (Trailer)
Netflix has released the trailer for its upcoming original documentary film “Virunga,” which is scheduled to premiere on November 7.
The film focuses on a team of embattled park rangers at the Virunga National Park in eastern Congo. Coming from diverse backgrounds, these rangers work hard to protect the UNESCO world heritage site, which is the home to the last mountain gorillas, from armed militia, poaches, and other “dark forces” seeking to take control of the region’s rich natural resources. When a new M23 rebel group declares war in May 2012, the conflict threatens the lives of everyone at the park.
The film was directed by Orlando von Einsiedel. Here’s the stunning trailer:
