Network A Dives into New York’s Street Scene With ‘Asphalt NYC’
Action sports digital network Network A is launching a new series, “Asphalt NYC,” this coming Monday. The series, which is helmed by Sundance Award-winning director Rene Johannsen, spotlights the eclectic mix that is New York City’s urban sports and art scene.
Johannsen returns to the “Asphalt” series following up on the previous “Asphalt CPH,” which documented street culture in Copenhagen and aired on The Danish National Broadcast. “Asphalt NYC” is being developed exclusively for the web and will be a five-episode series with each video running for roughly seven minutes.
Keeping in tone with Network A’s extreme urban sports content, episode one of “Asphalt NYC” follows pro skater Quim Cardona as he tours and skates NYC. The episode will also focus on Cardona’s one-time offer to star in the film “Kids” as “Telly” — a character who was largely based on Cardona himself.
“Asphalt NYC” is produced by Network A and Johannsen. You can check out “Asphalt NYC” on Networka.com when it airs on October 7.Tags: Asphalt NYC, Digital Network, Every Third Thursday, Network A
