Network A Revs Up with Fresh Programming Throughout January
Network A, an online action sports channel from Bedrocket and Wasserman Media Group, has unveiled its programming lineup for January, which includes the return of “Alana: Surfer Girl” for a third season as well as the debut of several new original shows.
As previously announced, “Alana: Surfer Girl,” an original series following pro surfer Alana Blanchard as she competes in the ASP Women’s World Tour, begins its third season today. Spanning 10 weekly episodes, season three will focus on Blanchard’s experiences at the 2013 Vans US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, California, as well as a promotional trip she took to Australia with long-time sponsor Rip Curl. It will also provide an intimate look into Blanchard’s personal life, including her relationship with fellow pro surfer Jack Freestone.
The first two seasons of “Alana: Surfer Girl” have accumulated more than 8 million views for Network A, which produces the show in partnership with 8 Side Productions.
Joining “Alana: Surfer Girl” are two new original series as well as one returning program.
“Drift Garage,” a new program, is a how-to series hosted by professional drifters Chris Forsberg and Ryan Tuerck. The duo will demonstrate how to “source, build, and maintain a missile car for $5,000.” Per the announcement, missile cars are vehicles assembled at a low cost, using spare parts and scraps, as their entire purpose is to be battered up by adventurous drivers. “Drift Garage” is directed by Andrew Laputka and produced by Jacob Agajanian and Network A. The series will publish four daily episodes from January 20-23. A week later, beginning January 28, the hosts will begin to publish “response videos” based on viewer comments, questions, and feedback.
The other new program to air on Network A is also a four-episode mini-series: “Switchfoot’s ‘Fading West’ Behind-the-Scenes.” A four-part inside look at the making of the rock band’s new album and surf film “Fading West,” the series follows the San Diego rockers as they travel to Bali, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa — where the surf, I’m told, is pretty good. The mini-series is produced by Switchfoot and Network A. It will premiere Monday, January 13, and will release new episodes every day through January 16.
Rounding out the programming announcement is the return of “Every Third Thursday,” a monthly show starring snowboard artists Dave Lee and Marc Wierenga. In the show, which will predictably air new episodes every third Thursday of the month, Lee and Wierenga develop and create one-of-a-kind snowboards. In the first episode, the team will build a snowboard from recycled Christmas trees. The series is produced by Signal Snowboard and Network A.
Steven Van Engen and Annie Fast of Network A serve as executives in charged of production for all four shows.Tags: Action Sports, Alana Blanchard, Bedrocket, Network A, Switchfoot, Wasserman Media Group
