New Channels on Spying and Sports Make TV4 More Like TV

Invigorated by a new investment from Warner Bros., TV4 Entertainment also plans to turn out a slew of new channels and original shows to add to its programming. In addition to novel series on existing channels, DocComTV, All Warrior Network, and Television Four Network, TV4 will be launching five, fresh networks in the coming months.

TV4’s docu-centric channel, DocComTV, will add two, compelling documentaries to its roster. “Bob Marley: Giant” will tell the story of the reggae master’s photographer, Dennis Morris. At the age of sixteen, Morris began photographing Marley, and he continued to do so until the beloved reggae artist’s death seven years later. Marking the first “docu-series” on DocComTV, “Doing America” will follow documentarian Ben Churchill as he travels from Connecticut to Los Angeles as he seeks to achieve his dreams as a filmmaker. Churchill also edited and directed “Blind Film Critic” and “The Tommy Edison Experience.”

In the land of another genre, the All Warrior Network will continue to supply viewers with military-related shows like “Combat Aviation.” Brought to you by Robert Ham Films, Musa Productions, and Television Four Studio Productions, the network will soon feature “Enemy at the Gate,” in which U.S. and Afghan soldiers alike show their response to a Vehicle Bourne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) that exploded at a traffic control point out post in Khost, Afghanistan.

Bringing video content back to U.S. soil, “Level Black: PTSD and the War at Home” will feature the true story of SSG Bill Caviness, who served on four tours of duty and received the esteemed Purple Heart, as he struggles with PTSD alongside his wife at home. “Fight for a Fallen Brother,” the last of the network’s new shows, will come out just in time for Memorial Day, as it commemorates the life of a Private First Class in the army who was killed in action.

Having hit on a success with “McKenna,” Television Four Network is not only rolling out new episodes of the interview series, it’s also planning to launch a wine/travel show and a documentary about the ever-intriguing fans of the Insane Clown Posse. “WINERAM” showcased the alcoholic offerings of Australia (now available on Hulu and Hulu Plus), so New Zealand is up next, with the third season now filming in the U.S. Meanwhile, “Whoop Dreams” will show a group of friends at the 14th annual “Gathering of the Juggalos,” a group birthed from hip-hop artists Insane Clown Posse fandom. Created by Vince Mancini of Filmdrunk.com and Laremy Legel of Film.com, the Tall Tale Productions documentary was funded in part by Kickstarter.

TV4’s range is now set to include more programming on action sports, performing arts, boxing, and espionage. EDGE TV, with production company, The Bennett Group, will feature programming all about adventure and action-packed sports, while AUTOMOTO will cover the motor sports end of the spectrum. Dance Arts TV is set to take on performance arts worldwide with Copeland International Arts, and the Undisputed Champion Network will be the ultimate source for boxing videos online, brought to you by movie executives Art Horan and Damon Bingham. Lastly, SpyWorld TV will cover espionage. What mysterious content that entails, you’ll have to discover yourself with the channel’s launch sometime during the next few months.

This should be enough to keep TV4 busy while bringing the entertainment platform closer and closer to the feel of cable television. As it accrues more highly specified channels, TV4 Entertainment begins to look more like what we can see at home on our living room screens. Having evolved from YouTube’s method for showcasing online video, the platform sought a higher-end image that resulted in the multi-channel set-up we have access to today.
