New Short Film from Vice to Feature…Maine Lobstermen?
Who knew that being a lobsterman in Maine could be so…dark? Vice did, and from that knowledge comes the short film “A Piece of the Bottom.” Set to premiere worldwide on June 24, the film is based on real events that took place on Maine’s coastline.
Written by Harrison Nalevansky and directed by Floyd Russ, the film portrays the difficulty of making a living as a present-day lobsterman working Maine’s coastline. Of particular focus is the intense rivalries that exist in this industry.
The cast includes Leo Fitzpatrick “The Wire,” who stars as a day laborer caught in a feud between the film’s two main families, as well as a range of Maine locals in an effort to keep the film authentic and “real.”
Producers for “A Piece of the Bottom” include Nalevansky, Mike Lobikis, and Adam Palmer.
