New Fox Sports-Sporting News Digital Network Tops comScore’s Sports Video Chart
Fox Sports Digital and Sporting News Media’s combined digital network was the top sports digital video provider in August, according to the latest numbers released by comScore.
The combined entity, which was formed in July, reached 23.3 million unique viewers in the US last month, beating out other sports stalwarts ESPN and the Yahoo Sports-NBC Sports Network, which had 22.1 million and 15.3 million unique viewers, respectively.
Of note, Major League Baseball was the top pro league, with 8.8 million unique video viewers, according to comScore. The company’s MLB Advanced Media division, which powers MLB.com, team sites, and related apps, is recognized as one of the top providers of video streaming services on the web.
There has been a greater focus on digital video at Fox Sports. In addition to the deal with Sporting News Media, which spans cross-platform content creation, distribution, and ad sales, Fox Sports has worked with YouTube and its creator community to develop original content for younger, digitally-savvy viewers. Most recently, Fox Sports inked a partnership with YouTube Space LA to create daily, short-form sports videos under the [email protected] banner.
Among sites overall, ESPN remained the top destination, with 82.4 million unique visitors/viewers, followed by Yahoo-NBC with 68.9 million and Fox Sports-Sporting News with 61.2 million.Tags: comscore, espn, Fox Sports Digital, Fox Sports Digital-Sporting News Media Network, measurement, NBC Sports, Research, Sporting News Media, Sports, Yahoo Sports
