New Interactive Reality Web Series Asks Viewers for Input
Ever imagined what your life would be like if a bunch of strangers could peer in and send you their suggestions, on, say, what to do with your problematic significant other? “#RippleEffect,” an upcoming experimental, online show on Corus Entertainment’s W Network, seeks to explore this very experience.
So far only two episodes deep, this show follows three Toronto women as they navigate their personal and professional lives in real-time for viewers to watch on the internet. The series will allow viewers to directly interact with the protagonists, as they can comment and question via social media where the women can respond, possibly influencing their lives (and, of course, the next episode).
The female leads of the show include Vicki Hogarth, a writer who has contributed to xoJane, Vice, Huffington Post, and other publications, Nina Nogrekar, and Chantal Fry, an ice skater who performs under the name Chantal de Bisous.
Episode 1 airs on Wednesday, June 4, while episode 2 comes out Monday, June 9, 2014. Produced by Tony Wood, renowned in the UK for “Hollyoaks” and “The Only Way Is Essex,” this unprecedentedly interactive debut may be a great model for the rest of us who use social media to broadcast to the masses just how we’re feeling at any specific moment.
