New Netflix Animated Comedy Set to Premiere in August
Netflix announced its second original animated series, “BoJack Horseman,” back in December, previewing a comedic, adult series about a washed-up, former TV star and literal “horse man” voiced by Will Arnett. Now, Netflix has set the show’s premiere date for August 22, when it will release all 12 episodes of this outlandish comedy, which takes place in a world populated equally by humanoid animals and plain old humans.
The series focuses on the Horseman himself, the big star of a ‘90s family sitcom, “Horsin’ Around,” trying to make a comeback after eighteen, empty years since the show’s cancellation. The cast includes Amy Sedaris as Horseman’s former feline lover/agent, Princess Caroline, and Aaron Paul as Todd, Horseman’s human sidekick. Other notables are Paul F. Tompkins (HBO’s “Mr. Show with Bob and David”) and Alison Brie (“Mad Men”).
Created and executively produced by Raphael Bob-Waksberg of “The Exquisite Corpse Project,” “BoJack Horseman” was designed by Lisa Hanawalt and animated by the Los Angeles group, ShadowMachine. Other executive producers include Steven A. Cohen, Noel Bright, and Arnett and Paul themselves.
