Nick Launches First Digital-Only Series ‘Welcome to the Wayne’
Contributing to Nickelodeon’s freshly redesigned digital outlet Nick.com, a new animated series, “Welcome to Wayne,” which debuts today on the platform.
Made exclusively for the internet, the show comprises six episodes, each four to five minutes long. Rolling out weekly on Nick.com, “Welcome to Wayne” will follow the lives of two 10-year-olds as they have adventures in their New York City apartment building, called The Wayne.
“Welcome to the Wayne” marks the initial digital-only series for Nick. Three more will roll out this year, including “Junior Eye,” “Chase Champion” (still a working title), and “Mr. Sheep’s Department of Dreams.”
Emmy Award-winning writer/composer Billy Lopez of “Phineas and Ferb” created “Welcome to the Wayne.” Creators of future digital-only series on Nick include Will and Aaron Eisenberg, Michael Chaves, and Alan Foreman, respectively.
Coming out of the network’s “Animated Shorts Program,” these series will contribute to programming on Nick’s website and the Nick App, which boasts over 10 million downloads. There’s also potential for these shows to eventually transition to TV, with digital serving as an incubator for future TV franchises.Tags: Animated Series, billy lopez, emmy award, junior eye, kids programming, mr. sheep's department of dreams, Nick App, nick.com, Nickelodeon, phineas and ferb, SpongeBob SquarePants, TV Everywhere, welcome to the wayne
