And Now, a ‘Wicked’ Medley from YouTubers Peter Hollens and Nick Pitera (Video)
Collaborations! On YouTube, they are obviously done for creative purposes, with two talented creators wanting to work together on something new and cool. But as you are well aware of by now, such videos also have an added benefit: an organic introduction to a potentially new group of fans.
For creators like musicians Peter Hollens and Nick Pitera, who respectively reach more than 730,000 and 580,000 people on YouTube (counting only main YouTube channels), these are the reasons for videos like the just-released “Wicked Medley.” In the musical compilation, Hollens and Pitera run through songs from the hit Broadway show “Wicked” — check it:
Collaborations are “essential for building a fan base in the music world,” says Hollens. “Supporters and fans of artists loving nothing more than seeing their favorites work together, or finding a new artist.”
They can also be a “huge learning experience.” “I always share and advise and consult with my peers… and doing these collaborations is the best way to stay in touch and work with each other to help the ecosystem as a whole.”
The “Wicked Medley” music video was recorded in Hollens’ garage with the help of Fifgen Films, which has worked with other YouTube creators like Lindsey Stirling.
It’s also the culmination of long-standing desire between Hollens and Pitera to work together on a song. “Nick and I’ve been trying to figure out a song to do for over 12 months,” says Hollens. Nothing felt right until Hollens came up with the idea for “Wicked Medley,” with the musical being among both of their favorites.
It’s definitely worth a look, and available for purchase across multiple digital outlets. Hollens, who specializes in a cappella, releases new videos every other Tuesday.Tags: a cappella, Collaborations, music, music video, Nick Pitera, Peter Hollens, Videos to Watch, Wicked, Wicked Medley, YouTube Creators
