PBS Launches Video App on Xbox, Introduces New Digital Shorts Series
PBS has launched a new app on the Xbox 360, providing access to full-length episodes of TV shows, local PBS station programming, and web-original videos from the network’s PBS Digital Studios arm.
The app is available to all Xbox Live Gold subscribers in the US. Featuring “hundreds of videos,” the app’s video library includes shows like “American Experience,” “Austin City Limits,” “Frontline,” and “Secrets of the Dead.” Original series from PBS Digital Studios include “Blank on Blank,” “It’s Okay to Be Smart,” “Icons Remixed,” “Shanks FX,” and “Modern Comedian.”
The app was developed by PBS and Digiflare.
Meanwhile, earlier today PBS Digital Studios released “Thru Tokyo,” an exclusive musical mash-up from musician/video-artist Kutiman, who was apparently dubbed “YouTube’s Most Famous DJ” after releasing his project “ThruYOU,” which created a new song by combining a series of unrelated YouTube clips. The “Thru Tokyo” video, which was produced by Matt Vree for PBS Digital Studios and shot, directed, and edited by Kultiman, is the first in a new series of original digital shorts that PBS Digital Studios plans to roll out in the future.Tags: Kultiman, Music Content, pbs, PBS Digital Studios, Xbox, Xbox Live
