Pluto TV Inks Distribution Deals with AOL, Endemol Beyond USA
The video service, which streams content in a linear fashion that mimics traditional TV, is now offering all original series from AOL, including “Making a Scene” (from James Franco), “The Restart Project (from Gwyneth Paltrow), and “#CandidlyNicole” (from Nicole Richie).
Pluto TV is distributing all of the AOL Original series. For Endemol Beyond USA, Pluto TV is featuring select shows. The first shows the platform will share, will be: Trend Report, Look #TBT, Andy’s Hungry Voyage, Muthaship and Drea DeMatteo, and Fear Factor Moments.
Content from Endemol Beyond includes a selection of videos from the network’s top talent, including Vine comedian Brittany Furlan, YouTube star JkissaMakeup, and rapper Pitbull, as well as series like “Trend Report,” “Look #TBT,” “Fear Factor Moments,” “Andy’s Hungry Voyage” (with Andy Milonakis), “The Muthaship” (with Drea de Matteo).
The programming will be integrated into existing channels offered by Pluto TV. Currently, the service offers more than a 100 linear video channels, curated by genres like sports, music, news, comedy, drama; specific interests like “Fails,” “Classic Toons,” and “Cats 24/7”; and premium video brands like Funny or Die and Refinery29.
Pluto TV is available online and across a number of mobile and connected-TV devices, including Apple TV (via Airplay), Chromecast, and Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick.
The startup is backed by a mob of media heavyweights including Sky, UTA CEO Jeremy Zimmer, ICM partner and president Chris Silbermann, Intel Capital founder Avram Miller, former Yahoo CEO Terry Semel’s Windsor Media, and rapper Nas’ Queensbridge Venture Partners.
