German MCN Studio71 Builds The Mansion to Collaborate with US YouTubers and Advertisers

Berlin-based multi-channel network Studio71 wants to collaborate with US-based YouTubers. So the MCN, a division of German broadcasting giant ProSiebenSat.1, built The Mansion, a production facility located in West Hollywood, Los Angeles that will allow German creators to partner with American creators on original and branded content.

The Mansion is a full-service living and working environment for Studio71 and its roster of talent. The hope is that by providing a physical location with all the resources necessary to produce and distribute videos, Studio71 can develop a strong relationship in the US with domestic creators and advertisers.

To start, two of the MCN’s top talents, Gronkh (2.98 million subscribers) and Sarazar (1.33 million subscribers), are already living at the facility. While there, the duo will play host to both German and American YouTube stars in order to “exchange ideas, share projects, and produce video content together.” This includes a new YouTube series in which the duo will examine the California lifestyle and the digital entertainment industry, as well as interview Hollywood and digital executives and talent.

US-based creators including Dane Boedigheimer and DJ Flula (an American-German crossover star set to appear in “Pitch Perfect 2”) are scheduled to spend some time at The Mansion and create content.

Of note, Boedigheimer, the creator of “The Annoying Orange,” is associated with Collective Digital Studio, which sold a 20% stake to ProSiebenSat.1 in March.

All of the videos created at The Mansion will be uploaded to its YouTube channel, which has pulled in more than 100,000 subscribers since going live on June 7. Collaborations featuring guest creators like Boedigheimer and Flula will also be available on the guest’s channel.

Other German creators living at The Mansion include fitness guru Karl Ess, comedienne MissesVlog, and gamers David Hain and Fabian Siegismund. All of them will provide weekly updates on their lives at the house, and similar to their US counterparts, will also upload videos to their individual channels.

Right now a “launching pad” for Studio71’s entry into the US, The Mansion concept will come to Berlin in the fall, the MCN said.
