Documentary film “The Greasy Hands Preacher” has arrived on Vimeo On Demand after its premiere at the San Sebastian International Film Festival in 2014. The film chronicles motorcycle enthusiasts from all over the world and was directed, written, and produced by Clement Beauvais and Arthur de Kersauson of Mercenary Pictures, which is based in Paris. “The Greasy Hands Preacher” was executive produced by Orlando Bloom, Nicolas Manuel, and Thomas Vignali. You can rent or buy it here, for $6.99 or $12.99, respectively.
Samsung is teaming up with TBS on an original, reality series called “Meet the Smiths,” which stars NBA analyst Kenny Smith and his family. Though the show will live on linear television (on TBS), it will premiere first on digital. The first episode will go up on TBS.com on April 1 before it airs on TV on April 3 at 9pm ET. The whole series will also roll out across TBS.com, the Watch TBS app, and other distribution partners’ website and mobile apps.
Vine creators Jason Nash and Brandon Calvillo have started a Kickstarter to raise money for a feature film they’re starring in called “FML: A Social Media Adventure.” The movie will star myriad Vine stars like Brittany Furlan, Marcus Johns, Micholas Megalis, Eric Dunn, Allegra Masters, Sunny Mabrey, and…the list goes on. Actors Rob Corddry, Busy Philipps, Patton Oswalt, Paul Scheer, Ken Marino, Andy Daly, and TJ Miller will also appear in the movie. So far, the Vine creators have raised nearly $5,000 of their $200,000 goal with 28 days left for people to fund the project.
The first Stream Con NYC will take place in New York at the Jacob K. Javits Center from October 30 to November 1 this year. The event will aim to bring together creators, brands, fans, and media companies in the digital video industry. Confirmed attendees so far include AwesomenessTV, Big Frame, Condé Nast Entertainment, Collective Digital Studio, Fullscreen, Defy Media, New Form Digital, Vimeo, Maker Studios, StyleHaul, and several other big names in the industry. LeftField Media and Tubefilter are producing the event.
Chad Mumm, the VP creative director of Vox Media, and Lockhart Steele, the VP of editorial at Vox Media, will present the company’s keynote at MIP Digital Fronts on April 14. They will discuss how Vox Media deals with rapid growth in the industry, develops content, and tailors its programming to today’s audiences.
