Radio Disney Strikes Multi-Channel Content Deal with ShowMobile

Radio Disney has struck a deal with ShowMobile to launch two new channels on the mobile content app.

ShowMobile’s app aggregates social media content from a variety of sources, including YouTube, Twitter, Tumblr, and Instagram, and pulls them into a singular feed (or “channel”), which fans can follow. The app launched with the transmedia music series “HitStreak,” which to date has accumulated more than 50 million views, of which 6 million occurred on the app alone.

The app has also looked to launch channels for top stars and brands, including Austin Mahone and The Rosso Sisters.

Now, with Radio Disney, ShowMobile is introducing two channels to help the brand reach its core younger demo where they are increasingly consuming content. The first channel is a standard Radio Disney channel, pulling in content from the station’s social media channels into one regularly updating feed.

In the coming weeks, Radio Disney will launch a second channel called “Next Big Thing,” which will look to highlight up-and-coming artists, beginning with Island Records’ Shawn Mendes (who just topped the iTunes music charts). ShowMobile will create and curate transmedia content for the “Next Big Thing” channel.

These two channels are the first in a series of collaborations between ShowMobile and Radio Disney, the companies said. For instance, the cast of “HitStreak” will soon be filming episodes at Radio Disney’s studios, integrating the station’s on-air talent and special guests into the series.

“Radio Disney consistently engages its kid and tween audience where they are, online and through social media,” said Phil Guerini, VP of programming and GM, Radio Disney, in a statement. “Through ShowMobile’s ability to deliver original content and updates from across all of Radio Disney’s social media platforms in one place, we are excited to be able to provide our audience with an efficient and streamlined means to get the latest news and updates on Radio Disney and their favorite artists.”

ShowMobile is available on both iOS and Android devices.
