Rainn Wilson’s SoulPancake Pivots to Cable TV
SoulPancake, actor Rainn Wilson’s digital media company geared toward life-affirming and inspirational content, is making another move to TV. Starting today, Participant Media’s millennial-focused cable network Pivot will air “Mixtape by SoulPancake,” a weekly series featuring web content from the digital media company.
Content will include SoulPancake web series like “The Science of Happiness,” “Art Attack,” and “Metaphysical Milkshake,” as well as interviews conducted by Wilson with stars and celebrity friends such as Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Mindy Kaling, Russell Brand, and Elon Musk. Shot in the back of Wilson’s 1970s van, these interviews will focus on “non-traditional” conversations about philosophical topics.
All of this will be repackaged into six 15-minute clips, which will air on Mondays at 8:30pm ET.
This is not the first SoulPancake project to expand to traditional TV. Earlier this year, the company inked a deal with The Hub Network, a kids network formed by Discovery Communications and Hasbro, to produce a TV version of its popular “Kid President” series.
On YouTube, SoulPancake reaches more than 1.3 million subscribers, with more than 150 million lifetime views.
