Refinery29 to Launch Docu-Series on Icona Pop
Fashion and lifestyle platform Refinery29 announced its first original, documentary series, “I Am Icon.” Following Swedish music duo Icona Pop around the US as they open for Miley Cyrus’s Bangerz World Tour, the reality series will premiere on July 10.
Created in partnership with Ten Music Group, a Swedish music company, “I Am Icon” will join Icona Pop’s Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo in their tour bus for eight episodes, each of which will run for five-to-eight minutes. They will be posted weekly (and exclusively) to Refinery29’s website.
“The past year has been a wild ride for us and we’ve loved every minute of it,” stated Hjelt and Jawo. “Our collaboration with Refinery29 really chronicles this special time in our lives— we cannot wait to share our crazy journey with fans.”
The pop duo recently debuted new songs such as “Let’s Go,” a collaboration with DJ Tiësto, and “Get Lost.” Their new docu-series will join original programming on Refinery29 such as “Astrologica” and “Style Out There,” which is ready to debut this summer. After premiering on Refinery29, each of these series will be available on other digital distribution platforms such as Aol On.
