Rooster Teeth Launches Mobile, TV Apps
Rooster Teeth, the production studio, YouTube channel, and YouTube network behind hit online series like “Red vs. Blue” and “RWBY,” has launched video apps for a number of mobile and smart TV devices.
Built by Beachfront Media and its Beachfront Builder product, the apps are available on all iOS and Android smartphones and tablets. For those wishing to access the content on their TV sets, the apps can also be found on Roku set-tops and smart TVs from Google, LG, and Samsung. Expansion to the Xbox gaming consoles and the PS4 is also on the “short list,” according to a Rooster Teeth blog post.
Content from the entire Rooster Teeth network is available on the apps. This includes the company’s flagship YouTube channel, which is pretty close to surpassing 8 million subscribers, as well as channels for shows like “The Slow Mo Guys” and Rooster Teeth’s gaming-focused Achievement Hunter division.
On the monetization side, it appears right now the apps are mainly ad-supported, though Beachfront Builder generally offers several revenue-generating options including e-commerce.
This is the latest app built by Beachfront for YouTube creators. Most recently, the company has also launched apps for Olga Kay, Jason Horton, and Rachel Ballinger.Tags: app, Beachfront Builder, Beachfront Media, Connected TVs, gaming, mobile video, Rooster Teeth, YouTube Creators
