Rooster Teeth Starts Production on First Feature Film, ‘Lazer Team’
Production has begun on Rooster Teeth’s upcoming feature-length film “Lazer Team.”
Backed by a record-breaking Indiegogo campaign, the film will be a mixed superhero and sci-fi tale that tells the story of four bumbling idiots who, through a series of unfortunate events (for the people of Earth), are humanity’s last hope against an alien invasion.
Directed by Rooster Teeth’s Matt Hullum, “Lazer Team” was scripted by Hullum, fellow Rooster Teeth co-founder “Burnie” Burns, Josh Flanagan, and Chris Demarais from a story by Burns.
The cast includes Alan Ritchson (“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”), who will play Adam, the “Champion of Earth,” who was supposed to don a super-suit to fight off the invading alien forces. The four hapless idiots who form the titular “Lazer Team” will be played by Colton Dunn (“Parks & Recreation”), Gavin Free, Michael Jones, and Burns.
“We’re incredibly excited to begin principal photography on Lazer Team with such an outstanding cast and crew,” said Hullum in a published statement. “We wouldn’t be able to make such a big, crazy sci-fi action comedy like this without the support of every one of our Indiegogo backers. We’re going to do our best to make sure every single dollar ends up on screen.”
Rooster Teeth hopes to release the film theatrically in the spring of 2015.Tags: Burnie Burns, feature film, indiegogo, Lazer Team, Matt Hullum, Rooster Teeth
