Rosario Dawson Joins Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’
Marvel has cast Rosario Dawson its upcoming “Daredevil” TV series for Netflix.
Known for her roles in movies like “Kids” and “Sin City,” Dawson will play a young woman whose quest to fix Hell’s Kitchen brings her face-to-face with Matt Murdock and his titular alter ego. “Her role in the series is absolutely critical to Matt Murdock’s journey to become the hero we know as Daredevil,” said Jeph Loeb, head of television at Marvel.
Dawson joins a cast that includes Charlie Cox as Murdock/Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio as the blind superhero’s archnemesis Wilson Fisk.
“Daredevil” is being produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix, the first of four original series — and one mini-series event — that Marvel is producing exclusively for the streaming service. The shows will be shot largely on-location in the state of New York for a reported $200 million.
Executive producers include Loeb, showrunner Steven S. DeKnight (“Spartacus”) and Drew Goddard (“Cabin in the Woods”), who is also writing the first two episodes.Tags: ABC Studios, Casting, Charlie Cox, Daredevil, disney, Marvel Television, Netflix, Netflix Original, Rosario Dawson, superhero, Vincent D'Onofrio
