Sam Register Promoted by Warner Bros. to Head Up New Digital Unit
Sam Register, Warner Bros. Animation’s EVP of creative affairs, has been promoted to the newly created position of president of Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Digital Series.
In the new role, Register will head up a newly formed live-actin digital production unit, and will be responsible for the development and production of original live-action web series. In this capacity, Warner Bros. says Register will work with creative talent already working at the studio as well as identifying other writers and producers to collaborate with.
At the same time, Register will continue to run the studio’s television animation unit in the role of president.
He will report to Warner Bros. Television Group president and chief content officer Peter Roth.
In a statement, Roth said: “Sam has done an outstanding job shepherding Warner Bros. Animation over the past six years, reinvigorating one of the most storied and accomplished animation production companies in this industry. His creative instincts coupled with boundless enthusiasm, passion and energy were all key drivers in WBA’s recent successes, and I know that he will bring the same level of leadership and commitment to his new mission of building and expanding our digital series business.”
As EVP at WBA, Register developed and supervised the production of TV shows like “Teen Titans Go,” “The Tom and Jerry Show,” and the upcoming “Be Cool Scooby-Doo” for Cartoon Network, as well as the upcoming “Mike Tyson Mysteries” for Adult Swim. Register also oversees creative efforts for WBA’s animated shorts and feature films produced in partnership with Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.
On the digital front, Register has overseen the launch of digital content initiatives at WBA, including DCBeyond.com and KidsWB.com.
