Sarah Palin Launches Very Own Subscription Video Channel
Sarah Palin launched her own digital video channel on sarahpalinchannel.com, posting a trailer on YouTube this past Saturday (with a disabled comments section) in which the former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate claimed she will “talk about the issues that mainstream media won’t talk about.”
The subscription-based channel offers a $9.95 monthly plan or a $99.95 per year alternative (with the option of two, free months with a subscription by August 1). However, in an act of patriotism, subscription comes for free to all active members of the US military.
The channel also features a reality style component, in which viewers get a peak at what goes on in the Palin household. After all, Palin does describe the channel as “really a lot more than news.” Palin also has former experience on the reality front, having starred in the TLC series, “Sarah Palin’s Alaska.” Her past contributions to Fox News serve as a precursor to the new online channel’s reporting-type pieces.
In partnership with Tapp, an online video platform launched earlier this year by former NBC Universal Television chairman Jeff Gaspin and former CNN president Jon Klein, Palin is producing the channel. She also performs all executive editorial duties on the site.
Back in March, the announcement that the celebrity-centric Tapp would work with Palin mentioned “Rogue TV” as the possible title for her channel. With Tapp’s focus on gaining mass followings from celebrities, it’s no wonder they’ve chosen to work with Palin, who has nearly 4.3 million followers on Facebook.

With a proposed focus on “hearing from you,” Palin provides the ability for subscribers to post their own videos on her digital channel. The former vice presidential candidate will also give subscribers the ability to participate in video chats with and send questions to her…perhaps why there’s no space for people to comment on the YouTube trailer. They have to pay to do so on Palin’s own internet platform.
Glenn Beck and Paula Deen are among the celebrity personalities to have started their own digital networks fueled by their popularity. Palin’s initiative, as you can see in the channel trailer below, somewhat gently bashes the media and Washington, DC while claiming to spread the word of the nation on Palin’s “own terms.” Available at a monthly rate just over that of streaming service Netflix, we’ll see how many subscribers the Palin channel will accrue.
